MedSelect Inc. Announces New Products at 2003 MAC Conference
Pittsburgh, PA. (Mar. 15, 2003)--MED:
MedSelect held its annual Users Conference Feb 27,28 and March 1. President and Chief Executive Office, Bob Rasmussen,
inaugurated this year's event by discussing MedSelect's successful growth over the past nine years. In MedSelect's continuing
efforts to bring value to its customers, MedSelect introduced several new automation and patient safety products for 2003, including SmartStock, ConfigureRx, and
Interchange.
SmartStock, is a new application that uses barcode technology to eliminate dispensing errors caused by incorrect restocking. SmartStock introduces two key control features: Medications are scanned by the restocker. The appropriate
Unit Dose Module LED blinks or the appropriate drawer opens to guide the restocker to the correct storage location. After a medication is dispensed, the medication is scanned to verify that the correct medication has been dispensed.
ConfigureRx allows users with appropriate security levels to configure cabinets at the Dispensing Station. Users can assign medications, create new locations, change locations and change Min/Max levels. Both SmartStock and ConfigureRx are
available to customers.
MedSelect also introduced Interchange, an application that automates the process of getting Physician Orders to a Pharmacist for review and creation of medication orders. Interchange consists of a fax server with a database and
one or more pharmacist workstations. Physician Orders are transmitted to the fax server for review. Interchange provides the workflow for Pharmacists to review and create Orders based on the time that the Order was received and its priority. Interchange will be
available at the end of second quarter of 2003.
MedSelect was also proud to have Dr. Steve Olsen as the Keynote Speaker. Dr. Olsen spoke on
JCAHO standards and practices as related to Automation Medication Dispensing systems. Dr. Olsen provided valuable insight to what regulations
and standards JCAHO is currently analyzing, and what to expect for 2004.
